Feature Playbook

ManufactureQuote Feature Playbook

Everything the platform does. Plain English. No hype.

Who it is for

Built for manufacturers who quote custom work

One-off custom work

Repeatable assemblies

Machined components and made-to-order products

Subcontract work and installs

Workshop jobs that need controlled job sheets

Manufacturers who currently quote from spreadsheets, memory, or general tools

The problems it solves

Common manufacturing quoting problems

Manual quoting is slow and inconsistent between estimators

Out-of-date costing assumptions and labour rates cause underquoting

Markup and margin are confused, which can lead to incorrect pricing

Quote versions get lost and the customer gets the wrong version

The customer proposal and the workshop job sheet do not match

Accepted quotes get accidentally edited after the customer agreed

No snapshot of what was sent or what was accepted

Repeat jobs do not teach the business enough about cost accuracy

Owners cannot see margin risk early enough to act

Core workflow

How quoting works in ManufactureQuote

1

Create a quote from a reusable template, pattern, or blank job

2

Add materials, labour/processes, setup time, run time, subcontract, freight, and custom lines

3

Review pricing and totals as you build

4

Check required details before issuing

5

Generate a clean customer proposal PDF that hides internal costs and supplier prices

6

Issue the proposal so the sent snapshot is frozen

7

Send the PDF through your normal email and record the customer decision manually

8

Accepted quote locks so the accepted version cannot be changed

9

Workshop job sheet is generated from the accepted snapshot

10

After production, enter actual costs and compare to what was quoted

Costing engine

What cost types are supported

Materials: flat quantity, weight-based, sheet-style calculations, and waste factor

Labour and processes: setup time, run time per unit, and minimum charge

Machine time: machine rate and operator rate separately

Subcontract and outwork: buy price, markup, and minimum charge

Freight and delivery: quoted as a separate controlled line

Miscellaneous and manual lines: flat price with markup

Assemblies: reusable bundles of materials and processes added with one click

Margin protection

How ManufactureQuote protects your margin

Pricing summary updates as quote lines change

Markup and margin are shown separately and clearly distinguished

Line-level costs, sell prices, and totals are calculated consistently

Sent snapshot locks the customer-facing version of the quote

Editing after issuing marks the quote dirty and blocks accepting the old issued version

Accepted quote locks at the workflow and database level

Changing your rates or Library later does not rewrite accepted quotes

Actual vs quoted comparison shows where jobs went over or under the accepted estimate

Snapshot integrity

Why snapshot protection matters

When you issue a proposal, the customer-facing version is frozen as a snapshot

If you edit the quote after issuing, you must reissue before accepting it

A dirty sent quote cannot be accepted

When the customer accepts, the accepted snapshot becomes the production reference

Accepted quotes cannot be edited like drafts

Changing customer details, rates, or Library records later does not affect accepted quotes

The accepted snapshot is the authoritative record for job sheet, actuals, and audit

Job sheets

What the workshop receives

Job sheet is generated from the accepted quote snapshot

Shows materials to pick, process steps, production notes, and subcontract items

Shows QA checklist, delivery notes, assigned department or person where captured

Keeps customer pricing away from the workshop floor

Printable layout for the workshop floor

Job number is generated from the accepted quote using your numbering format

Actual vs quoted

Learning from completed jobs

After a job is completed, enter actual material costs, labour hours, and freight

Compare actual cost to what was quoted by category and total

See variance: where was the job over or under budget?

Review completed jobs to improve future quoting decisions

Update rates before the next similar job, not after another miss

Available on Business plan

What is not included

What ManufactureQuote does not do

Not a broad operations platform; it focuses on quote workflow control

Not a replacement for your finance system

Not a shop-floor planning tool

Not a design-file import tool

Not a full customer relationship platform; lightweight customer and contact management only
